Explaining the unexplainable

Today I had a train of thought that lead me to “Could you explain a shadow to the sun?” Now of course this thought requires some assumptions. Fist assumption; the sun is sentient. Second assumption; the sun can sense visible light, i.e. see. Third assumption, you could communicate with the sun. Now given all of these assumptions were true and the sun said to you “I’ve heard about shadows, but I’ve never seen one, could you show me a shadow?” How would you do it. Think about it. What stellar object has a shadow? The moon. So you tell the sun “Look at the moon that orbits the Earth”, but any part of the moon that the sun can see can’t have a shadow, because there’s always light coming from point of view of the sun.

Anyway, it was just a thought.

another possibility is that the sun is presented with black hole, which can absorb the light of the sun and thus the sun can see the shadow directly.

In other word, there is always something to compensate one existence in this word, even for the sun.

But light coming from the planet would get absorbed into the black hole as well. Won\’t the black hole suck light into itself equally from both directions?

maybe what i meant is not exactly shadow, it is darkness. to me, shadow is bascially darkness, the cause may be a little different but essentially, they are the same. as of shadow itself, once the sun saw the darkness, maybe you can explain shadow to the sun. 🙂
